چکیده
Spectrophotometry and imaging of the two planetary nebulae He 2-436 andWray 16423, recently discovered to be in the Sagittarius dwarf elliptical galaxy, are presented. Wray 16-423 is a high excitation planetary nebula (PN) with a hot central star. In contrast He 2-436 is a high density nebula with a cooler central star and evidence of local dust, the extinction exceeding that for Wray 16-423 by EB−V = 0.28. The extinction to Wray 16-423, (EB−V =0.14) is consistent with the line of sight extinction to the Sagittarius Dwarf. Both PN show Wolf-Rayet features in their spectra, although the lines are weak in Wray 16-423. Images in [O III] and Hα+[N II], although affected by poor seeing, yield a diameter of 1.2 for Wray 16-423 after deconvolution, whilst He 2-436 was unresolved. He 2-436 has a luminosity about twice that of Wray 16-423 Based on observations at the European Southern Observatory, La Silla

The errors inherent to the use of the standard " ionization correction factor " (" i CF ") method of calculating nebular conditions and relative and Ar in emission line nebulae have been investigated under conditions typical for planetary nebulae. The photoionization code Cloudy was used to construct a series of model nebulae with properties spanning the range typical of PNe. Its radial " profi...

evolutionary and spectral models of gas giants and/or brown dwarfs with masses from 0.3 through 60 times that of Jupiter assume a new and central role in the emerging field of extra-solar planetary studies. In this contribution, we describe the structural, spectral, and evolutionary characteristics of such exotic objects, as determined by our recent theoretical calculations. These calculations ...

Electron temperatures, densities, ionic and elemental abundances of helium, nitrogen, oxygen, argon, sulfur and neon were derived for a sample of bulge planetary nebulae, representative of its intermediate mass population. Using these results as constraints, a model for the chemical evolution of the galactic bulge was developed. The results indicate that the best fit is achieved using a double-...

The comparison of the observed and computed energy distributions of β CrB has shown that a model with the specific chemical composition of the star can account for the visual enery distribution, while it is still unable to reproduce ultraviolet observations shortward of 1700Å. Furthermore, the predicted absorption of strong Fe ii and Mg ii UV lines is much larger than the observed one.
